THE PROJECT
Established in 1841, First Presbyterian Church of Greer is not only a historic building but a pillar of the religious and social community for the community of Greer, South Carolina. The church property consists of two large buildings across the street from one another. In preparation for construction and renovations, First Presbyterian needed heightened monitoring capabilities to ensure the safety of the facility as a meeting point for so many types of groups and people.
CLIENT GOALS
Being able to schedule the door locks in both buildings and maintain control of the access at any time, even remotely, was the primary goal as part of their expansion and renovation efforts to take their historical building to having modern functionality. First Presbyterian also needed to be able to control door access for their second building located across the street.
SERVICES DELIVERED

Worked with the general contractor and church administrators through different construction phases to install locking door hardware using readers, mag locks or strikes, and request-to-exit devices which integrated with the existing fire alarm system.

Installed intercom video stations for office administration to be able to see and grant entry to visitors without badges or key fobs.

Installed an ADA door opener to be integrated with the access control and fire alarm system.

Church staff was trained on how to manage the system themselves, including creating and maintaining door scheduling.
TECHNOLOGY UTILIZED
S2 Security Access Control browser-based system and Aiphone intercoms provided user-friendly application without the need for software or additional computer equipment.
PROJECT RESULTS
GenX Security successfully worked in tandem with the general contractor and church administrators to achieve the level of access control that the client was seeking while allowing for construction to commence and continue uninterrupted. During the renovation the church was able to feel secure that no doors are left unlocked despite the constant activity between two separate buildings.
